In fact this is where the Uchiha Curse of Hatred comes from. To awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan the ninja must go through an extremely traumatic event, almost always involving the loss of someone very precious to them. And while you are able to copy most jutsus if you can’t perform another clan’s Kekkei Genkai, or use a change in chakra nature you don’t posses. The Eye of sight can’t see chakra to the degree the Byakugan can, and it doesn’t matter if you can predict where your enemy is going to hit you if you can’t react fast enough to block or dodge. “The Eye of Insight” grants the user incredible clarity, making them able to see people chakra, predict an opponent’s movements, and even copy their jutsu. It’s two main abilities include “the Eye of Insight” and “the Eye of Hypnotism”.
The premature sharingan has all the same abilities a fully matured sharingan has just not the same proficiency. The premature and fully matured sharingan definitely have their perks, but they come with plenty of weakness and drawbacks that can be exploited. The experience can be negative such as when Madara lost his younger brother, or positive like when Obito felt the strong desire to protect Kakashi.
It only manifest in certain individuals, and even then that individual must undergo an intense emotional experience. Before the start I want to clarify that being born an Uchiha doesn’t automatically grant you the sharingan later in life.
